Meet the designer

My name is Viviana Torres Rivera. From a young age, I was curious. I've always been defined by an insatiable thirst for learning about everything that captures my attention. For 18 years, I worked passionately as a teacher, a vocation that allowed me to impact many lives. However, a moment came when I felt a different calling: to be true to a deep desire that had been with me for a long time—to learn the art of shoemaking.

My relationship with footwear was never superficial. I spent my first eight years in orthopedic shoes, which led me to observe, study, and categorize every pair I saw, almost as a sport. I loved imagining myself in other people's shoes (and, oddly enough, I still do, albeit in a different way). Footwear became an extension of my identity, a means of self-expression. Even today, I choose clothes that complement my shoes, not the other way around.

I trained as a designer and shoemaker in Buenos Aires at the López Vizcaíno Workshop School, where I spent two years perfecting my design techniques and shoemaking skills. It was a period full of experimentation: I tried different shoe structures, materials, and processes, learning with every step. During the pandemic, I was confined to Buenos Aires due to the strict quarantine policies, and that's when I decided to venture into producing my first capsule collection, with two designs in three colors. "I have nothing to lose," I thought.

So, in November 2021, I launched my first capsule collection, 20|20. Although it was an experimental, pilot project, I saw it as an invaluable learning experience, one that confirmed how much more I had to learn. Since then, I've dedicated myself to further my education: I took courses, participated in business programs, received mentorship, asked questions, read, and was open to learning. Today, I understand that there will always be more to learn, and I see failure differently: as part of the journey, not as an end in itself. That's why, in 2023, I launched a second capsule collection, this time with less fear and more confidence.

As a designer, my goal is to create shoes that make the women who wear them feel unique. Each piece is designed to become a conversation piece, capable of sparking memorable moments, making them shine, and reminding them how powerful they are. I feel that a part of me—a piece of my soul—goes into every pair of shoes. For me, our shoes are not just accessories; they are objects full of possibilities, designed for women who value what is unique and meaningful.
